Students are formally assessed three times each year using not only state required assessments, but using schoolwide assessments which include those listed below. Parents are notified of the student's data three times a year - beginning (September), middle (January) and end (June).
Engage NY is a nationally top-rated math curriculum that aligns fully with the Common Core math standards. Students at Bridge will be taught this rigorous curriculum in small groups based on a child's needs. Home Math ResourcesWaterford (kindergarten) and iReady are rigorous, standards-aligned programs that personalize learning for each student. These are a perfect fit for our students at Bridge! Students are immersed in curriculum that uses data to scaffold concepts for each learner, ultimately leading to deep understanding. Teachers use the data from the programs to help create personsalized lessons and activities to further support our learners.
Our Visible Learning program uses Character First which promotes timeless values and concepts that transcend social and cultural differences. Learners at Bridge are REFLECTIVE, DETERMINED, FLEXIBLE, ENTHUSIASTIC, THOROUGH, and take INITIATIVE. Data shows these important learning dispositions promote lifelong learning and help move students from passive learners to active, visible learners. Our licensed social worker will deliver lessons to each grade level using Second Step our social emotional learning curriculum.
Second Step Scope and SequenceThis is a whole group, direct instruction program for phonemic awareness aligned with foundational reading skills core standards.
UFLI is an explicit, standards-based reading program that teaches phonics and foundational reading skills. Additionally, students learn basic reading skills through lessons delivered using 95% Phonics Learning Library, and Heggerty phonemic awareness.
Bridge uses two standard based, direct instruction programs from 95 Percent Group. The comprehension program focuses on teaching comprehension processes., while Vocabulary Surge teaches students word parts to help build their word comprehension. Additionally, students in grades 3 - 6 work on complex text using non-fiction or historical fiction books and passages with rigorous text-connected questions and discussions.
Bridge Elementary has additional reading and language arts curriculum including Novel Ties, Close Reading Passages, S.P.I.R.E., and Read Naturally. Curriculum materials used for writing include Heggerty Bridge to Writing, Four Square, Utah Compose, and Zaner Bloser for cursive.
Students at Bridge will learn science from a variety of standard based curriculum programs including Kessler Science, Science A to Z, UEN, and Generation Genius.
Bridge will focus on the state standards with programs such as Studies Weekly, UEN, and Virtual Field Trips.
